breast is best again

Uh, I only heard the tail end of this conversation between my sons. How they got here, I don't know. Izzy said to Josh and Caleb, "...yeah, I used to drink milk from mommy's breast when I was a baby..." That he said it so matter-of-factly was the most disturbing part.

cheerleading mama

Caleb said, "Hey mom, you should get a Raven's cheerleading outfit like Maggie!" (I need not comment on why this is comical on many many levels!)

We don't worship Pretty

I am discovering that the issues girls have, at least my girl, are different from the boy's issues. For example, last week after I dressed Maggie for church she said, "Everyone will think I look pretty." I returned her statement with, "...and that you love Jesus." We talked briefly about going to church to worship God, not to be seen as pretty. (For the record, even though I can certainly relate to the whole vanity thing, at age four I was more interested in pretending to be a monkey - Chim-chim of Speed Racer - so I really didn't expect to be dealing with this yet :).
Later that week Maggie, after brushing her hair, said to me, "We don't worship Pretty, right mom?"

"Right on, girly!"

Shannon the Milk Maid

This is not a quote from my children, but it was so funny I had to share with everybody. My friend Shannon just had her fourth baby, a 7lb. 13oz girl named Scarlett. Her oldest son Tristin has said several times since the baby came home, “when you’re done milking the baby, can you…?”

4 in 1

Joshua, Caleb and I had the following conversation yesterday:

Me: Solomon was wise, but he had too many wives. (long story how we got here)
Caleb: Actually, I think it was smart to have a lot of wives. Then they could help do all of the things like cook and clean and it would get done faster.
Joshua: yeah mom, you’re like four people in one. You cook, clean, teach us… lots of stuff!
